 Kits -
The breeding season begins in early spring and goes through early summer, often Feb - July. Pet quality jill kits on spay contracts are
made available to their new homes at 12 weeks of age. Hob kits will normally be available between 12-16 weeks of age though some hob kits
may be held back until 20 weeks of age.
Adolescents and Adults - Early in the breeding season, we may choose to hold back more kits than we ultimately intend to keep for the breeding program. Some of these older kits and/or retired adults will be listed for adoption throughout the year. |
| Adoption Application |
 Waiting List - GFX Ferretry keeps a waiting list of approved prospective homes for our litters. Look around the site,
if you like what you see and would like to be added to our waiting list, please fill out our adoption application. Once approved, we
will place you on our waiting list and let you know when we have someone who may fit your needs. A deposit is not necessary to be
placed on the waiting list.
Application - The adoption application gives us an opportunity to get to know you and your family better so that we can select the best ferret for your household. No one answer is more correct than any other, be honest with your responses so you can be matched with the right individual. Complete and detailed answers will help speed up the application process, please select an answer for every question on the form. Completing the adoption application is a required pre-requisite to adopting a GFX ferret. A deposit for your choice of ferret will only be accepted after the adoption application has been approved. Due to the volume of applications we receive, incomplete adoption applications will not be responded. |
| Prices & Deposits |
 Prices - Pet quality kits are $300 - $350 on a spay/neuter contract. The spay/neuter expense is the responsibility of they buyer
unless the kit is altered prior to purchase. Breeder quality kits are $400 - $450 and are available on an extremely limited basis. Older kits and/or retired
adult prices and particulars vary and will with be listed with each individual's bio.
Deposits - A minimum deposit of $100 is required to reserve a kit or adult. Deposits on each litter will be accepted once the kits have reached a week old. You must fill out the adoption application before your deposit will be accepted. Your deposit is refundable from the date of the reservation as follows:
Picking Up Your Ferret You can pick your ferret up here in Matthews, NC or at a ferret show that I'll be attending. I normally attend all of the AFA ferret shows on the eastern side of the country and will be trying to get to the western shows when possible. In addition, I travel up to the VA/MD/DC/PA region quite a bit and will often be able to meet you somewhere along the way. In order for me to bring your ferret on a road trip, all paperwork must be completed and adoption fee paid before baby travels. If you are coming to the ferretry, you must pick your ferret up within 10 days of the agreed upon date. We do not under any circumstances do cold sales at ferret shows. Adopting a GFX ferret is a match-making process that takes time for us to get to know each other in order to assure the best personality fit for your family and the right home for my babies. If you're not willing to go through that process, then this is not the ferretry for you. Shipping By Air Enough people have asked us about airline shipping that we've decided to come up with a policy. Often someone who wants a GFX ferret lives far enough away that visting the ferretry or picking the kit up at a show isnt an option. We strongly encourage you to come to the ferretry or meet us at a show, but when that's not possible, we will consider bringing your ferret to you by air when possible. The cost for this service varies greatly, but is normally between $350 - $550. Air transport availability is limited by the weather conditions and is highly dependant on if I have time available to fly your ferret to you and if you live somewhere I want to go. If we talk with enough advance notice, it may be possible to adopt additional ferrets in distant locations and split shipping costs among adopters. Its a longshot, but it could happen. GFX ferrets do not fly unattended under any circumstances. |
